Real-Time Closed Captioning

Real-time Closed Captioning is created when a captioner instantaneously transcribes the spoken to text using specialized software and equipment. This is used to caption news, sports, governmental proceedings and other content as well as live streaming on the web.

Off-Line Closed Captioning

Offline Closed Captioning is created through the transcription of the spoken word and the assignment of time codes to those captions so that they are synced to the video.
